Datadog is a powerful monitoring platform wrapped in an interface that seems designed to create as many billable events as possible. The dashboard builder is capable but overwhelming. The APM trace view is genuinely useful. The log explorer is powerful but the query language is its own dialect. Navigation between products (Logs, APM, Infrastructure, Synthetics) feels like visiting different countries with different customs. The sheer breadth of what Datadog monitors is impressive; the coherence of how it presents that monitoring is not.
