Analysis

Waze has the best real-time traffic and hazard data of any navigation app - the crowdsourced reporting system is genuinely brilliant. But the visual design looks like a children's game designed by committee. The map is cluttered with cartoon avatars, sponsored pins, and badges that nobody asked for. Ads appear during navigation, which is borderline irresponsible. Under the visual chaos is a routing engine that consistently finds faster routes than Google Maps, which makes the design failures even more frustrating.
